Penn State Football records that could fall in 2022

Miscellaneous Penn State Football records
Three more of Trace McSorley’s records could be broken this season, the first two of which are total yards (11,596) and total touchdowns (107). Once again, Sean Clifford is the man with a chance to break these records.
With currently 8,736 total yards and 72 total touchdowns (both second in school history), Clifford has a chance to set records in both of those categories.
To set the yards record, he would need to amass 2,860 yards combined between passing and rushing this season. He threw for over 3,000 yards last year, so he very well could break that just on passing alone, but add in a couple hundred rushing yards for good measure, and the record could be his.
The touchdowns record is a little more of a long shot, but still within striking distance.
Clifford would need to throw and run for a combined 36 touchdowns in 2022 to break the record. His current career best for passing touchdowns in a season is 23, and rushing is five, which would leave him short of the record. However, both of those personal bests for Clifford came back in 2019 when–as mentioned earlier–he missed a game and a half with an injury.
If he can stay healthy this season, he can challenge the total touchdowns mark.
Finally, Trace McSorley’s record as the winningest quarterback in school history with 31 wins as the Nittany Lions’ starting quarterback.
At this point, Clifford has won 21 games as a starter, so he would need 10 to tie and 11 to break his predecessor’s record.
I’ve already discussed in the past that Penn State can win 11 games with Sean Clifford as their starting quarterback, because they’ve already proven that they can in 2019. You can find the article where I go more in depth on the matter here.
So you can roll your eyes and scream at me in social media comment sections all you want, but the fact remains that this record can be broken, which is on par with the title of this article: ‘Penn State Football records that could fall in 2022′.
