Reason #3 – Sean Clifford and the wideouts vs Purdue’s secondary

Purdue’s experienced secondary might be a little better than their front seven, and as a result their pass defense may be stronger than their run defense, but it still might not be enough to slow down a veteran quarterback throwing to a talented and deep wide receiver corps that will be led by two of the best wideouts in the country.

Very few cornerbacks in college football will be able to shut down Parker Washington and Mitchell Tinsley, and I doubt any of them reside in West Lafeyette. Sprinkle in the likes of KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Malick Meiga, Tre Wallace, and Kaden Saunders; and you’ve got yourself a recipe for success against the Boilermakers.

Plus, the experience of Sean Clifford will bode well for Penn State Football in a nationally televised game in what figures to be a good environment (at least by Purdue’s standards).

Don’t be surprised to see the Nittany Lions have success through the air in game one.
