Penn State football’s 2023 recruiting class got better again on Wednesday afternoon.

Wide receiver Carmelo Taylor announced his commitment to Penn State football on Wednesday via his Instagram.

The 4-star wide receiver from Virginia had been on Penn State’s radar for a while now. He took an official visit back in June but then went quiet with his recruitment. His silence made his recruitment hard to read, but in the end it worked out well for Penn State.

The other main players in his recruitment were Maryland, South Carolina and Virginia Tech.

Listed at 6-foot and 170 pounds, Taylor has game-breaking speed that the Nittany Lions can certainly use. He may need a year or two to add some weight, but his talent is worth the wait.

Taylor is a great addition to Penn State’s 2023 recruiting class, especially after recently losing a wide receiver commit in Yazeed Haynes. The board was pretty murky behind Taylor so it’s great to see Penn State win his recruitment.

The Nittany Lions also needed some momentum after 4-star defensive end Tomarrion Parker decommitted from them yesterday. Recruiting truly is a roller coaster.

Penn State continues to crush it in Virginia in the 2023 cycle. Five of the top eight recruits in the 247 Sports rankings in the state of Virginia are now committed to the Nittany Lions. They may not be done in the state either, as 4-star linebacker Kaveion Keys will announce later this month.

Penn State’s 2023 class is back up to 18 commits with the addition of Carmelo Taylo. The class holds firm at the No. 10 spot in the national rankings.

James Franklin and his staff just seem to have a way of making things work after missing out on a target or suffering a decommitment. Another solid win for the Nittany Lions on the recruiting trail.
