Penn State Football: Three bold predictions for August
2. Jaxon Smolik flips to Penn State
Tulane quarterback commit Jaxon Smolik was up to Penn State last weekend to take part in a showcase camp.
According to Josh Taylor of Penn State Rivals, Smolik left Happy Valley with a Penn State offer in hand.
The Nittany Lions are looking to replace Marcus Stokes. The 4-star signal caller flipped his commitment from Penn State to Florida back in July.
This was a shocking move that left Penn State in a bad spot. The Nittany Lions offered only 10 quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle and the other nine had already found a home. They had to find someone new.
Smolik came on the scene after impressing at the Elite 11 Finals earlier this summer. The 3-star started to gain some national attention after his performance at the top quarterback camp in the country.
Securing a quarterback is usually the top priority in every recruiting class, so Penn State’s staff will work to get this flip done soon.
