4. Elliot Washington (2023)

Speaking of shocking commitments, Elliot Washington may be at the top of the list.

The cornerback from Florida flipped his commitment from Alabama to the Nittany Lions earlier this month.

The 4-star took two official visits, but neither were to Alabama. His two visits were to Penn State and Michigan State, suggesting a flip was bound to happen.

As with Parker, Washington was not all that familiar with Penn State before his official visit in June.  He had not stepped foot on campus before June.

This is an example of what goes on behind the scenes in recruiting. Even though Washington never made appearances at Penn State and never posted about the school, a relationship with the staff was being built.

Washington is a nationally regarded recruit and plays a position the Nittany Lions could use some more depth at in the coming years. This was a great victory.
