5. Tomarrion Parker (2023)

Tomarrion Parker’s commitment to Penn State football was a shocker.

As most Penn State fans probably know by now, Parker had not visited Happy Valley before his official visit back in June. Only a few days later, he was committed to the Nittany Lions, after just one visit.

Penn State rarely lands recruits from the state of Alabama, especially ones rated inside the top 100 in the national rankings. Making this a truly unique commitment for Penn State.

The other big players in Parker’s recruitment were Michigan State, Florida and Tennessee. All three of these schools had a perceived stronger relationship with Parker than Penn State, but that didn’t matter in the end.

The Nittan Lions badly needed a defensive end in their 2023 class, and the found a great one in Parker.
