Nick Singleton (2022)

After not signing an in-state running back for four recruiting cycles, the Nittany Lions came back to the state this past year.

James Franklin and his staff won an epic recruiting battle over Notre Dame, Alabama and others to land 4-star running back Nick Singleton from Reading, PA last July.

Singleton went on to have a great senior season at Governor Mifflin High School that resulted in him winning Gatorade National Player of the Year and becoming the No. 1 running back in the nation.

He was one of three 5-star recruits to sign in Penn State’s historic 2022 recruiting class.

The true freshman is already turning heads, and some expect him to become the No. 1 running back for Penn State at some point during the 2022 season.

Singleton has the talent to rival Barkley and Sanders as the best Penn State running back from Pennsylvania during the Franklin tenure.

Montgomery will join Singleton in Penn State football’s backfield in 2023.
