What does the future hold for the Penn State Wrestling team and current head coach Cael Sanderson?

Cael Sanderson has built an unstoppable wrestling machine in Happy Valley. Under his keen coaching eye and elite level recruiting, the Nittany Lions have won the NCAA team title an astonishing nine times out of the last 11 NCAA Championships.

At this point, about the only things that could stop Penn State from continuing to dominate the collegiate wrestling world would be for Cael Sanderson to pursue his coaching career elsewhere, or for me and all of my friends to comprise the starting wrestling lineup.

While the latter would be historically comical, the former would be a crushing blow to the dynasty Sanderson has built at University Park – because there aren’t many people on this planet that can keep that train rolling.

Well, fortunately for the Nittany Lion faithful, it appears Cael Sanderson will be prowling the sidelines at Penn State for many more years to come.

Look, I’ll be somewhat frank here. Prior to the start of the 2021-2022 season, there was some, shall I say, interesting “chatter” making the rounds. I won’t go into any specifics but none of it sounded good for the future of Penn State Wrestling.

But those days are now squarely in the rearview mirror.

This is obviously fantastic news for the Nittany Lion Wrestling Team, and for the droves of Penn State fans who continually flock to Rec Hall and the Bryce Jordan Center to watch the Nittany Lions pulverize their next opponent.
