2. Not Waiting Until July

Last year, recruits waited until July to make their college choice. That resulted in the Nittany Lions landing over a dozen 2022 recruits last July.

That won’t really be the case this year.

Penn State football was able to land five commitments in June, and in some cases, recruits cancelled other visits. This is kind of odd, as last year it seemed like recruits gave all their contenders a fair shot and then came to a decision in July.

This doesn’t just go for Penn State, other schools were also able to land recruits, even though they had other visits scheduled.

Why some of these recruits decided to shut down their recruitment after just one or two visits is unknown. There’s really not a clear-cut answer as to why this seemed to be more common this year.

Sure, you can say NIL deals are why, but that’s just unfounded rumors at this point.

Thankfully, this seemed to help Penn State instead of hurting them. The aforementioned Tomarrion Parker had other visits scheduled and he never made them. That certainly is fine with the Penn State coaching staff.
