Penn State Football added a significant member to its 2023 recruiting class on Tuesday with the addition of Tomarrion Parker.

In a somewhat surprising announcement, 4-star DE Tomarrion Parker committed to Penn State Football.

Parker took an official visit to Penn State this past weekend and now, less than two days after leaving campus, he is a member of the Nittany Lions’ 2023 recruiting class.

This commitment can be considered a shocker.

Maybe we shouldn’t be shocked though, James Franklin and his staff are notorious for crushing official visits and turning the tide of recruitments. Still, this one happened quick.

From Phenix City, AL, this was Parker’s first visit to Penn State, and it seems like one visit was all he needed. He was expected to visit Michigan State this upcoming weekend and Florida and Tennessee during the season, but those visits are no more now.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds, Parker is rated as the No. 80 player in the country according to the 247 Sports Composite. He is the No. 8 defensive lineman in the rankings as well. He is the third highest rated player in Penn State’s 2023 class.

Parker holds an impressive offer sheet that includes Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Florida, Tennessee and Texas A&M. This was a recruitment that included the best of the best.

Just as it looked like Penn State’s defensive end recruiting was struggling, defensive line coach John Scott Jr. goes and reels in Parker. This was a massive recruiting win.

During his junior season at Central High School in Phenix City, Parker recorded 9.5 sacks and 23 tackles for loss.

Between Dani Dennis-Sutton in the 2022 class, Demeioun Robinson from the transfer portal and now Parker, Penn State is starting to accumulate elite pass rushers. If Penn State wants to keep up in the competitive Big Ten East, they need to be able to get after the quarterback.

With Parker now in the fold, Penn State has 14 commits and the No. 3 class in the country in the 2023 cycle. Parker is the third commit for Penn State from a result of the official visit period, and more may be on the way.
