No. 3 wide receiver in Penn State Football history

Jahan Dotson (2018-2021)

Career Stats

Receptions: 183

Receiving Yards: 2,757

Touchdowns: 25

Accolades

  • All-Big Ten (first team in 2021, third team in 2020)
  • 1st round NFL Draft pick (Commanders)

Recency bias aside, Jahan Dotson is more than deserving of a top three spot on this list.

Following his four-year Penn State career, he is second in school history in receptions, fourth in receiving yards, and tied for second in receiving touchdowns. He could have been even higher on each of those lists, had it not been for the Covid-shortened 2020 season that robbed him of at least three more games.

Against Maryland in 2021, Dotson torched the Terps for 242 yards and three touchdowns on 11 catches, which set the school record for receiving yards in a game (previously held by Deon Butler with 216).

In his final two seasons, Jahan was one of the few bright spots on the Penn State offense. He single-handily kept the Nittany Lions in many games in 2020 and 2021, and was able to put up great numbers in spite of sub-par quarterback play much of the time, as well as no running game to help balance the offense in 2021. Teams knew the ball was going to No. 5, but they still couldn’t stop him.

Jahan Dotson could very well have the best hands in school history. Combine that with his silky-smooth route running and quickness after the catch, and there is no argument that he is one of the top wide receivers in Penn State history.
