No. 2 wide receiver in Penn State Football history

Bobby Engram (1991-1995)

Receptions: 167

Receiving Yards: 3,026

Touchdowns: 31

Accolades

  • Biletnikoff Award winner (1994)
  • All-Big Ten first team (1994, 1995)
  • All-American (1994)
  • 2nd round NFL Draft pick (Bears)

Bobby Engram was the No. 1 receiver on what is likely the best offense in Penn State history in 1994 for a team that went 13-0, winning the Big Ten and the Rose Bowl.

He spent five years in State College, but was suspended by Joe Paterno for the 1992 season. However, he did still play four seasons with the Nittany Lions, which helped him to become the school’s all-time record holder for receptions (which has since been surpassed by four others), as well as both receiving yards and receiving touchdowns, both of which still stand as program records.

The former Nittany Lion also holds the record for most receiving touchdowns in a single season (13 in 1993), as well as in a single game (four against Minnesota in 1993)

A case could absolutely be made for Bobby Engram to be on top of this list, and nobody would really argue that, but if we’re splitting hairs, the next guy didn’t have quite as much talent around him as Engram did.
