Penn State Football must now regroup with 4-star wide receiver Rodney Gallagher picking West Virginia on Wednesday.

Wide receiver isn’t a huge need for Penn State Football in the 2023 class, but the staff wants to add as much talent to the roster as possible.

In 2023, Penn State’s quarterback room will include Christian Veilleux, Drew Allar, Beau Pribula and Marcus Stokes. This talented, but young, group will need as many weapons as possible to help them compete with the high-scoring offenses of Ohio State and Michigan in the Big Ten.

The Nittany Lions already have a commitment from a wide receiver in the 2023 cycle. The commit, 4-star Ejani Shakir, is an incredible talent and will be a key contributor for Penn State Football down the road.

The thing is, three to four wide receivers see the field at a time, so you want to accumulate as many talented prospects at the position as possible.

Considering the Nittany Lions took four wide receivers in the 2022 class and already have Shakir in 2023, there’s at most two spots open for wide receivers in the 2023 class.

Let’s take a look at the targets with Gallagher off the board.
