One of the top wrestlers in the nation, Roman Bravo-Young, is returning to college with his eyes on another national title.

Penn State Wrestling received massive news on Monday afternoon when four-time All-American Roman Bravo-Young announced he would be returning to the program next season.

The defending national champion in the 133-pound weight class took to Twitter to announce his big decision.

"When I came to Penn State, a young kid from Tucson, AZ who could have imagined that I would become a 2x National Champion, 4x All-American, and earn a degree from one of the most prestigious schools. Why would I not try to run it back one more time!"

Bravo-Young is taking advantage of the extra year of eligibility all NCAA athletes were awarded as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Penn State coaching staff must be pleased with the decision as there wasn’t a shoo-in replacement for Bravo-Young on the roster for the 133 weight class. And honestly, replacing Bravo-Young would have been a difficult task for any wrestler, regardless of their talent.

He had indicated prior to the 2021-22 season that he would be done after the year, but it seems as though Bravo-Young had a change of heart after the dust settled following the national championship run.

In his four years in Happy Valley, Bravo-Young has accumulated an 81-9 record. He is undefeated over the past two season, going 36-0 with two individual national championships along with being a part of two team titles for the Nittany Lions during his career. The 23-year-old will look to continue his win streak and add even more hardware to his trophy case next season.

Bravo-Young, along with Carter Starocci and others, will look to make it back-to-back team national championships and the 11th overall for the program in 2022-23.
