No. 1 Penn State Wrestling capped off the final day of wrestling in the 2022 NCAA Championships by winning another team title and crowning five individual titles

The Penn State Nittany Lion Wrestling team proved to the entire collegiate wrestling world on Saturday night that they are indeed still the dominant program.

After being tested numerous times during the regular season dual schedule, and falling short in the 2022 Big Ten Wrestling Championships to Michigan, Penn State Wrestling circled the wagons and did what they do best.

Just win, baby!

The Nittany Lions locked up an incredible ninth NCAA team championship out of the past 11 NCAA tournaments wrestled. And for the second time in the past five NCAA’s, Penn State Wrestling had five individual wrestlers crowned with titles of their own (last time was 2017).

Throughout various parts of the season, you could sense a feeling in the other top wrestling programs that Penn State may not be able to climb to the top of the mountain this season. Which was understandable as Iowa took home the team trophy last year despite the Nittany Lions winning an amazing four NCAA individual titles.

But make no mistake about it, Penn State Wrestling’s performance and win in the 2022 NCAAs wasn’t just a victory. It was a complete ass whooping from start to finish.

Below are the final team scores according to FloWrestling:

1. Penn State Wrestling 131.5
2. Michigan 96.0
3. Iowa 74.0
4. Arizona State 67.0
5. Nebraska
6. Northwestern 57.5

The Big Ten was well represented once again as they had five of the top six team finishes and eight of the 10 individual champions.

So now that the dust has settled and Penn State Wrestling fans are almost done picking the confetti out of hair, let’s take a quick recap of each individual wrestler from the tournament and take a very, very early look at what the team could look like next season.
