2022 NFL Draft: Penn State Safety Jaquan Brisker finds his new home in the Windy City
By Andrew Adair
Penn State Football Safety Jaquan Brisker has found his NFL home, as he was selected by the Chicago Bears in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. This is what he brings to his new team.
Prior to being selected by Chicago, Jaquan Brisker was a two-year starter at Penn State. Brisker used the extra year of eligibility to boost his draft stock. While at Penn State, Brisker earned second-team All-American honors from the Associated Press, FWAA, Sporting News, USA Today, and The Athletic. In 34 career games at Penn State, Brisker compiled 153 tackles, five interceptions, and 14 pass breakups.
Brisker has a tendency to be in the right place at the right time and made several huge plays to close out games. Brisker is also an asset at the line of scrimmage and played near the line of scrimmage often at Penn State.
Here is what the experts have to say about Jaquan Brisker:
Pro Football Network Ian Cummings
"“Brisker has great long speed and range for his size. He covers ground quickly with energetic strides. He chases down plays in pursuit, even from angles that aren’t ideal. The Penn State Safety developed into one of the top playmakers in the Big Ten this past season. Brisker’s physical traits pop off the screen, but his polish beyond that foundation is what generates true excitement for his NFL projection.”"
ESPN NFL Draft Expert Mel Kiper
"“Jaquan’s a good football player and James Franklin loved this kid. He was always kind of the guy that was the defensive coordinator on the field for Penn State. I think the safety group at the top he’s battling Jalen Pitre from Baylor, Lewis Cine from Georgia. When we did the mocks, I had him early second (round), I think early to mid-second at the latest for him.”"
Jaquan Brisker is a versatile player that the NFL loves. He is athletic enough to be a factor in coverage and strong enough to be a force in the running game.
He should be able to factor into the Bears’ starting lineup and improve the defense immediately, as Brisker is a game-changer that has a nose for the football.
