Penn State Football quarterback – Christian Veilleux

It would be a surprise to see Sean Clifford play more than a few drives in Saturday’s Blue-White game if any at all, so Christian Veilleux will see a ton of action in the scrimmage.

With the backup quarterback competition being one of the most compelling of the entire offseason, and that particular role being Veilleux’s to lose, it will be great for fans to get a chance to see where he stands at this stage of the game in relation to the pair of true freshmen he is competing against.

While a spring game can be misleading at times, it would be encouraging to see the redshirt freshman from Ottawa be smart and accurate with his passes throughout the afternoon, minimizing his mistakes.

Along with seeing where Veilleux is in comparison to Drew Allar and Beau Pribula, it will be interesting to see if he has been able to close the gap on Sean Clifford at all.

It would be shocking at this point to see him beat out Clifford for the starting spot to begin the season, but if Veilleux has continued to trend in the right direction this offseason, he very well could be hot on the heels of Clifford, and the sixth-year quarterback could be on a very short leash once the season kicks off.
