Penn State Football lands top defensive end in transfer portal
Penn State Football landed a much-needed transfer portal addition Tuesday morning when defensive end Demeioun “Chop” Robinson committed to the Nittany Lions after spending last season with the Maryland Terrapins.
Penn State Football landed a huge transfer portal addition Tuesday morning in the way of a former four-star recruit, Demeioun Robinson.
Robinson spent his freshman year in the Big Ten with the Maryland Terrapins, and was among the highest-rated defensive ends in the transfer portal.
The former highly-rated recruit not only fills a huge need in the Nittany Lions‘ defense at defensive end, as he was highly productive as a true freshman in 2021 in limited playing time.
Robinson was named a midseason true freshman All-American by ESPN after appearing in 13 games, but only starting in one of them. Robinson racked up 19 tackles, two and a half tackles for loss, and two sacks with the Terrapins.
He was the top-ranked player coming out of the state of Maryland in 2021 and chose Maryland over a number of huge offers such as LSU, Ohio State, Clemson, and Penn State Football.
After missing out on him coming out of high school, James Franklin lands him now in the portal.
Listed at six-foot-four and 250 pounds, Robinson is the prototype size to put his hand in the ground and be an edge rusher in Manny Diaz’s defense in 2022. Whether or not he starts right away will have to be seen, but he should see a lot of playing time immediately after the Nittany Lions lost both starting defensive ends; Jesse Luketa and Arnold Ebiketie to the NFL.
With Adisa Isaac returning from injury and hopefully for Penn State Football back to form, he and Robinson could form quite the duo at the edge positions for the Lions in 2022.
