Penn State Football recruiting: 10 Targets to watch this spring
Penn State Football and James Franklin are in the midst of one of the strongest recruiting runs in program history, and that could continue this spring
Penn State football’s 2023 class has picked up right where the 2022 class left off, as the class currently ranks No. 4 in the national rankings.
Building consecutive top ten recruiting classes is something that has long alluded James Franklin during his tenure at Penn State Football, but he may have finally turned the corner. This Spring will be a crucial stretch for Franklin’s quest for consecutive elite recruiting classes, as multiple prospects are expected to visit -or already have- Happy Valley in the weeks to come.
The Nittany Lions suffered a setback last week when 4-star athlete Neeo Avery reopened his recruitment and left Penn State’s class, but they quickly regrouped and flipped 4-star tight end Andrew Rappleyea from Michigan and added 4-star quarterback Marcus Stokes on Friday.
The 2023 class has an emphasis on the trenches, with the Nittany Lions needing to replenish depth both on the offensive and defensive lines. Linebacker is another position that Penn State needs to have a high hit rate at in this cycle.
