The 2022 recruiting class is in the books and now Penn State football’s staff will turn their attention to the 2023 cycle.

The Nittany Lions already started acquiring talent in the 2023 class, with eight commits. Penn State Football’s 2023 class currently ranks fourth in the nation and first in the Big Ten, according to 247 Sports.

This class is just as important as the 2022 one, as James Franklin needs to start stacking these top-10 recruiting classes to help break through to the College Football Playoff.

Positions like quarterback and running back are not big needs in 2023, while linebacker and offensive tackle look like glaring needs.

It’s still pretty early in the cycle, with early National Signing Day ten months away, but the people love mock drafts, so why not a mock recruiting class. If you follow recruiting at all, you’re aware that the target board constantly changes, and recruits that look like a high priority today may not be tomorrow. Not many, if any, Penn State fans expected Vega Ioane to be a part of the 2022 class a few weeks ago, but here he is, signed to the Nittany Lions.

Let’s take a swing at mapping out the 2023 Penn State Football recruiting class.
