Penn State Football WR Jahan Dotson has the potential to hear his name called in Round 1, but latest NFL mock Draft projection has him landing with Houston Texans

Penn State Football wide receiver Jahan Dotson will arrive in Indianapolis for the NFL Combine with the potential to strengthen his argument as the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2022 NFL Draft.

Dotson, 5-foot-11 and 185 pounds, flashed game-breaking speed and reliable hands during his three years as a starter and focal point of the Nittany Lions‘ passing attack.

Last season, Dotson led the Lions with 91 receptions for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns, cementing his place among the greatest receivers in program history.

However, despite his production, some mock drafts have Dotson falling out of the first-round of April’s NFL Draft.

Pro Football Focus’ latest NFL Mock Draft has Dotson falling to the Houston Texans with the No. 35 overall selection, the third selection of the second-round.

What would Penn State Football’s Jahan Dotson bring to Houston Texans?

Dotson is listed as PFF’s No. 38 overall prospect, and the outlet lists the Penn State Football alum as the No. 5 wide receiver in this year’s class.

It will be fascinating to see how Dotson emerges from Indianapolis, given Penn State Football’s history of strong testing performances.

If Dotson posts a strong time in the 40-yard dash, it would give further credence to the evaluations some inside the league have already made about the Nittany Lions’ standout.

“I watched a cornerback from Wisconsin, against Dotson,” an NFL executive recently told FanSided. “He followed Jahan around the field and just couldn’t cover him. I was watching the corner, and I kept rewinding to watch Jahan.

“I was like ‘holy shit, he is quick as lightning. [Cornerback] is a good football player, but he had no chance against Dotson. It was almost embarrassing.”

Houston would be an interesting fit for Dotson, who has experience lining up outside or in the slot, and could be an ideal complement to Brandin Cooks in the Texans’ passing game.

Dotson is viewed by many analysts as a player who could be chosen late in the first-round or early second-round, but a strong performance at the NFL Combine could improve his draft stock.
