Penn State Football: Top 5 players returning to lead the offense in 2022
By Andrew Adair
Parker Washington is following a very similar path as Jahan Dotson did at Penn State. Dotsons’ third season is when he made the leap to a number one wide receiver. 2022 will be Parker Washingtons’ third season. Sean Clifford is returning so, the chemistry between the two won’t be a problem. Washington was second on the team in every receiving category in 2021.
Washington has very few holes in his game. He is expected to step into the lead role for this receiving core. With Keandre Lambert-Smith and incoming transfer Mitchell Tinsley, Penn State will have one of the better receiver groups in the Big Ten.
Sean Clifford is back again for what should be his final season. He will be Penn States’ best quarterback statistically after this season. Clifford is in line to finish his Penn State career as the leader in passing yards, passing touchdowns, completions, and attempts.
What’s keeping Sean Clifford from being regarded as the best quarterback in Penn State history?
He has yet to deliver a conference championship. There is always one or two games a season where he doesn’t perform up to his standard. The only thing missing from Cliffords’ resume is that championship.
