Penn State Basketball returns to action, looking to get back on the winning side of things, when the Nittany Lions take on the Indiana Hoosiers Wednesday night
Penn State Basketball returns to action Wednesday night at the Indiana Hoosiers.
The Nittany Lions, led by head coach Micah Shrewsberry, and returning starters Seth Lundy and friend of VBR John Harrar (download his app!) head to Bloomington for a rematch with the Inaiana Hoosiers on Wednesday January 26th (1/26/2022) at 8:30 pm in Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on the Big Ten Network.
Can Penn State Basketball find a way to beat Indiana a second time this year?
The home win over the Hoosiers is the Lion’s best win of the year (second-best at home vs Wagner!?!) came as quite a bit of a surprise, with Penn State winning 61-58.
The Nittany Lions held all-conference performer Trayce Jackson-Davis to 20 points on 8-18 shooting but more importantly the Hoosier team as a whole to 23.5% (4-17) shooting from three while shooting 50% themselves (11-22). The 21 point margin from beyond the arc was the key to a Nittany Lion upset victory last time around. Can it happen again?
Penn State Basketball (8-8, 3-5) are currently in 10th place in the conference, coming off a blowout loss in Iowa City.
The Nittany Lions are led by Seth Lundy’s 13.7 points per game and Jalen Pickett’s 13.3. fifth-year center John Harrar is averaging 10.1 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Sam Sessoms leads the team in three-point shooting (45.5% clip).
The Indiana Hoosiers (14-5, 5-4) are 7th in the Big Ten and are coming off their first home loss of the year (an 80-62 loss versus Michigan). The Hoosiers are led by Trayce Jackson-Davis, averaging 18.6 points and 8.6 rebounds per game as he continues to climb in the 2022 NBA Draft prospects. Indiana has not shot well from deep as a team (averaging 33.9%) with only one player over 40% (Guard Parker Stewart at 45.8%). Indiana will need to shoot better than the 23.5% they shot last time out vs Penn State.

Penn State at Indiana University Prediction
ESPN’s BPI gives Penn State Basketball a 16.2% chance of winning.
Penn State Basketball matches up oddly well against this team, as Indiana doesn’t shoot the ball great from three and doesn’t want to play nearly as fast as Iowa. Indiana coming off their first home loss, and a blowout to boot, probably doesn’t help. But Penn State got one win against this team already.
Can they snag a second?
Prediction: Indiana 67 – Penn State 63
