Hunter Nourzad – Cornell

Penn State Football’s pursuit of Nourzad has been fairly well documented at this point, as they extended an offer to the former Ivy Leaguer back in early December.

Could Franklin and the Nittany Lions add Nourzad, one year after plucking Eric Wilson from Harvard via the transfer portal?

He will finally get the chance to visit Happy Valley this week, on 1/21, one of five trips he has scheduled along with visits to Va Tech, Auburn, Illinois, and Iowa.

Nourzad was a tackle at Cornell, starting the final 20 games of his career at both tackle positions but is looking to play along the interior of the line at his next spot. If he were to come to Happy Valley, he would likely battle it out to start at either guard position with Sal Wormley, Landon Tengwall and Bryce Effner assuming Juice Scruggs moves to center.

At Cornell, he was a second-team All-Ivy selection in 2019 and will remind Penn State Football fans of Eric Wilson who they acquired in the portal from Harvard last offseason. Wilson ended up starting 11 games at guard this past season and was very solid, although not spectacular.

Currently, there are no crystal ball predictions for Nourzad’s next destination as he seems to be keeping any thoughts close to the vest, but with his visits wrapping up with Iowa on 1/28, expect a decision shortly after that.
