News out of State College that No. 1 Penn State wrestling’s Nick Lee may miss the upcoming dual against Rutgers

It appears defending NCAA Champion, Nick Lee is set to miss his second straight dual meet of the season for No. 1 Penn State Wrestling against No. 14 Rutgers, set for Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.

Both Lee and Roman Bravo-Young were unable to go in the Nittany Lions‘ most recent dual, a 29-11 victory over Indiana last Sunday.

According to the voice of Penn State Wrestling, Jeff Byers, Lee and RBY missed the dual meet due to being “under the weather”. Which in the circumstances we are currently living in, can mean many different things.

I don’t want to speculate on whether this is an injury or an extension of his previous illness, as there has been no official word yet from the Penn State Wrestling Team.

But if this is truly the case, and Nick won’t be able to suit up for the Nittany Lions, then it’s possible the dual against Rutgers might be closer than some Penn State fans would like to see it.

As highlighted in our preview of the Big Ten dual, Lee’s match against No. 3 Sebastian Rivera was certainly one wrestling fans didn’t want to miss. Both grapplers are at the top of their game and it looks like Rivera has kicked it into another gear this season.

Obviously, it would be great for all of this to be moot and the Rec Hall crowd gets to see Nick Lee strap on the Penn State singlet later today.

There are also two additional notes regarding today’s dual meet.

First, the dual meet has been moved from ESPN2 to ESPNU and is set to air at the scheduled time of 5p.m.

Second, Rutgers’ talented wrestler at 174, Jackson Turley, announced he will be undergoing season-ending surgery in the near future so the Scarlet Knights will be sending out Connor O’Neill in his place.
