Olu Fashanu shined in Outback Bowl – does he have a starting role next season?
Center
Juice Scruggs – Rs. Junior
This feels like the easiest prediction to make along the offensive line in 2022.
Scruggs saw a lot of playing time at center this season after he started at left guard most of the time.
Scruggs has rebounded nicely from horrific injuries he suffered in a car accident earlier in his career and put on a lot of weight going into this season. Now listed at six-foot-three and 307 pounds Scruggs looks the part and was very good this past season, especially in pass protection.
Through 499 pass-blocking reps, which was a team-high this season, Scruggs did not allow a single sack and committed only one penalty. For all the issues the offensive line had this season, Scruggs is certainly not part of that issue and should be a part of the solution in 2022.
Having a quality center is very important for any offensive line and if Scruggs can step in and be that full-time anchor for this group next year, they will be much better off for it. If for some reason he is not starting at center, he will most definitely be in line for a starting guard position.
