The Outback Bowl provides a nationally televised game on New Years Day. This will be an opportunity for Penn State Football’s young players to shine

Tampa Bay is a beautiful place to be on New Years Day. This year, that is where Penn State Football will be ringing in the new year.

While most people will be starting their “New Year, New Me,” the same can be said for this Penn State Football team.

The Nittany Lions will see a substantial amount of key players opt-out of the bowl game. The team we see at the Outback Bowl will feature a vastly different starting lineup than we have seen all year. That is not necessarily a bad thing.

Bowl season offers teams a lot of incentive to qualify for them. The most important of these for the coaches is the extra month of practice. Players love bowl games for the different locations and the swag each bowl game gives away. The Outback Bowl will provide every player with a $150 Amazon gift card, Fossil watch, Jostens ring, $25 Outback gift card, and a hat. For the fans’ it gives us one last chance to watch our favorite team before the offseason.

The Outback Bowl also provides Penn State Football with the opportunity to showcase its younger talent.

With players focusing on the NFL Draft, the door opens for the younger players to show off their talent. New Years Day will give us fans a glimpse of what to look forward to next season and beyond.

Here are four players that Penn State FOotball should showcase in the Outback Bowl:

WR Parker Washington (Sophomore)

Parker Washington is finishing his second season at Penn State Football.

Washington is also the player most likely to fill the big shoes Jahan Dotson is leaving behind.

Washington has flashed his ability in a couple of games. He has the talent to be a number one receiver and, there’s no better place to start than at the Outback Bowl. Washington has 90+ catches and over 1,200 yards in his short career.

With quarterback Sean Clifford coming back for another season, Washington will have the most chemistry of the receiving group. If Penn State Football wins, there is no doubt Parker Washington will be a big reason why.
