Wide Receiver room goes from uncertainty to a strength

With Dotson all but certainly off to the NFL after the Outback Bowl, Penn State Football’s wide receiver room was set to once again be a major question mark.

Sophomore Parker Washington is a proven commodity after another very solid season, bringing his career numbers to 93 receptions for 1,211 yards and 10 touchdowns. Washington is a menace in the slot and the addition of Tinsley to the depth chart allows Washington to stay in that role.

Behind Washington, it is Keandre Lambert-Smith who had an up and down year in 2021 but did take a big step forward from his freshman campaign, hauling in 31 passes for 447 yards and two touchdowns. With Tinsley in the fold, Lambert-Smith can remain that third option that completes this receiver crops, instead of asking him to be the number two option and main perimeter option outside of Washington.

Besides those guys, Penn State Football is very young and very raw within the depth chart at wideout, with names like Malick Meiga, Liam Clifford, Harrison Wallace, and incoming freshman Kaden Saunders. Outside of Meiga, none of those youngsters have played any if at all at this level and now will continue to have time to grow and build a role for themselves.

If the Nittany Lions would have gone into the season without a transfer addition, they would have been in need of not one, but a few young names really stepping up, which can be a lot to ask in the Big Ten.

light. Hot. Which Penn State freshman will make an instant impact?
