Joey Porter Jr – Cornerback

Porter broke out last season in 2020 as a surprise starter and ended up being Penn State Football’s best lockdown corner.

He is a prototype cornerback at six-foot-two and 192 pounds. Porter is long, rangy and athletic with good ball skills but underwhelmed a bit this season, especially down the stretch of the season.

Porter was flagged seemingly every game, if not multiple times a game for pass interference and then that want to not get flagged got in his head, it took away his aggressive demeanor in coverage and ended up hurting his level of play.

He finished this season with one interception, the first of his career, and four pass breakups to go along with 49 tackles.

Outside of a few flags he was very good against Ohio State which boasts the best wide receiver group in the nation, but has his worst game against Michigan a few weeks later, giving up two of Michigan’s three touchdowns on post routes.

He has all the potential and talent you can want in a cornerback, and another season with Penn State Football could lead Porter Jr to being a very high NFL Draft pick.

Prediction: Porter will return in 2022 and return to his lockdown form.
