5. Mohamed Sanogo – Linebacker/Ole Miss

With a clear need at linebacker getting a productive and experienced SEC player at that position would be a no brainer for James Franklin and Manny Diaz.

Sanogo, a six-foot-one, 230 pound linebacker from Ole Miss had a breakout year in 2018 with 112 tackles but never quite returned to that form. Between 2020 and 2021 he did collect 85 tackles and two and a half sacks though, proving he can still play when given the opportunity.

Sanogo is a former three-star recruit, who lacked the big time offers coming out of high school, but has no connection to the Penn State Football staff.

Diaz, the Lions’ new defensive coordinator is also the linebackers coach, will have to dig deep into his contacts to see if he can get Sanogo to State College.

The former Rebel could be a nice piece in that defense next to Kobe King and Curtis Jacobs for the NIttany Lions.
