Minnesota kicked off their 2021-2022 season by taking part in the Bison Open on November 13th in Fargo, ND. The tournament was a resounding success for the talented squad as the Golden Gophers crowned six champions and had nine finalists, leading all of the participating schools in both categories.

The next stop on their schedule wasn’t as easy when they hosted wrestling powerhouse Oklahoma State for a home dual on November 20th. The dual meet featured 14 top 25 ranked grapplers and five matches where both wrestlers were ranked.

And as I mentioned before, Minnesota is a talented wrestling squad, but they aren’t on the same level as Oklahoma State. The Cowboys won seven of the ten matches on the day as they defeated Minnesota 23-10.

Next up for the Golden Gophers is another home meet, however this time the level of competition will be dialed down slightly as South Dakota State comes to town on November 28th.
