Takeaways from Penn State Football’s win over Maryland
By Nick Kreiser
Jahan Dotson made history, and Penn State Football’s defense helped the Nittany Lions pull away late, snapping a three-game skid with a win over Maryland Saturday
It wasn’t pretty for much of the game, but Penn State Football is (finally) back in the win column with a 31-14 win over Maryland.
The Nittany Lions‘ best player, wide receiver Jahan Dotson, had a record breaking performance, as the offense finally showed some signs of life, following some recent struggles.
The defense certainly did not have their best performance of the season, but they still played well overall and held a good offense to just two touchdowns.
Here are three major takeaways from Penn State Football’s sixth win of the season.
Penn State Football WR Jahan Dotson is good at football
Yeah ok, so this isn’t much of a takeaway, but it’s true.
Penn State Football’s star wideout broke the school record for receiving yards in a game, going for 242 yards on 11 catches, including all three offensive touchdowns on the day for the Nittany Lions.
The previous record was 216 yards, held by Deon Butler.
This goes without saying, but Dotson is the most valuable player, maybe for the entire team, but certainly for the offense. Penn State Football is now 6-0 on the season when number five finds the end zone as a receiver, and 0-3 when he does not.
Dotson’s ability to run clean routes and get open takes a lot of pressure off of Sean Clifford, and he catches everything thrown his way.
The senior from Nazareth made himself a lot of money this evening with his All-American level performance, and if he can keep it up, he could be the first receiver off the board in the upcoming draft.
