Penn State Football wide receiver/punt returner – Jahan Dotson

A theme has emerged this season for Penn State Football;

When Jahan Dotson finds the end zone as a receiver, the Nittany Lions are 5-0. When he does not, they are 0-3.

Dotson had a good game against Maryland last season, going for well over 123 yards and a touchdown. He will need to replicate that performance this season to help the Nittany Lions get back on track.

Dotson has still gotten his catches over the past month, but he has not been able to hit on a “splash play” and find the end zone.

Maryland is allowing the second-most yards per pass play and third-most passing touchdowns in the Big Ten, so the opportunity certainly exists for a big game from the star wideout.

We have also been waiting all season for Dotson to get loose and make a play as a punt returner. Though teams have mostly done a nice job of not giving him a chance to return it, if he gets the chance against the Terps, he needs to break one.

Look for Dotson to also be involved either as a runner in the wildcat formation again, or as a passer on a trick play like we saw against Auburn and Indiana.

Dotson is the best player on the offensive side of the ball for the Nittany Lions, so he will need to find a way to elevate his game to another level to help the struggling offense get back on track.
