Fighting Illini . 11. team. 807. . 3-6 (2-4).

The thought of Illinois’ upset win over Penn State being a springboard for the rest of the season came to a halt Saturday, as the Illini lost at home to Rutgers 20-14.

Quarterback Brandon Peters was solid, going 14-19 for 190 yards and two touchdowns. The problem was that the dominant run game that won game over Penn State Football was nowhere to be found, as they ran for just 107 yards in the game.

It’s still hard to fathom how this team beat Penn State, but they did. Minnesota is up next for Illinois.
