The first CFP rankings were unveiled tonight and the committee is seemingly punishing the Nittany Lions for their ugly loss

The College Football Playoff committee unveiled their first round of playoff rankings Tuesday night, and they did not include Penn State Football.

The Nittany Lions went unranked tonight meanwhile Wisconsin, who they beat in Week 1, is No. 21, and Auburn, who they beat in Week 3, is ranked No. 13.

Penn State Football also has two of its three losses to ranked teams in no. 5 Ohio State, and No. 22 Iowa, both of which came on the road.

The committee is seemingly punishing the Nittany Lions for a nine-overtime loss to 3-6 Illinois two Saturdays ago.

Although, it is surprising that Penn State Football is not getting any slack on losing quarterback Sean Clifford for the second half of the Iowa game, and playing with a hobbled Clifford in the Illinois game.

The point of a human committee, presumably, was to add context to wins and losses. That should be the difference between this system and the formerly used system, the BCS.

Penn State Football does, however, have its chances to not only get back inside the top 25, but make big strides when they host Michigan abs travel to Michigan State, both of which are ranked inside the top seven.

The opportunity to turn the season around will beckon, however for now they will have to wear the burden of an inexcusable loss.
