Penn State Football’s effort there, but Ohio State’s talent overcomes | Takeaways

The young Penn State Football defensive tackles have some potential
After getting run through (literally) against Illinois last week, the Nittany Lions’ defensive front was a huge concern, especially with the loss of PJ Mustipher.
Overall, Ohio State running back TreVeyon Henderson had his way, finishing with 152 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries, but he was held mostly in check in the first half.
The young defensive tackles for Penn State Football, Dvon Ellies and Coziah Izzard, were looked upon as liabilities this past week. However, both showed some flashes of some good things to come in the first half against one of the best offensive lines in all of college football.
Izzard tallied a solo tackle for loss, while Ellies got in on another tackle for loss himself. Now that both of them are expected to play more meaningful snaps where they will gain valuable experience, expect them to start to fill up the stat sheets more with each passing week.
The entire defense was worn down by late in the second half due to a lack of depth, which falls on the coaching staff. They played great (defensive tackles included) for much of the night, but ultimately got beat on a few crucial chunk plays.
The young defensive tackles certainly have a long way to go, but in the first half tonight they showed that they can be good assets to this team in the future.
