Penn State Basketball sets season ticket sales record
By Evan Smith
Excitement seems to be building for the Micah Shrewsberry era of Penn State Basketball, as the Nittany Lions announced record-setting season ticket sales
Penn State Men’s Basketball announced a record number of student season ticket sales last week and this week followed up with the number, over 2,800!
Whether this is a result of the buzz from Micah Shrewsberry’s new coaching staff or just pent up demand of wanting to watch live sports, the number is impressive.
The last time any student was able to enter the Bryce Jordan Center and watch the Men’s Basketball program, Penn State Basketball was ranked in the top 25 under Pat Chambers.
The traditional location for the student section, opposite the scorers table on the sideline, holds roughly 700 students. The normal ‘overfill’ section is behind both baskets (around the band and opposite the band). PSU has always sold signficantly more student tickets than students that show up, but even if half the 2,800 sold attend most games, this will be a significant increase in the size (and hopefully) volume of the Legion of Blue.
The Nittany Lions open the season on Wednesday on November 10th at 8:30 pm vs Youngstown State. What better way to welcome fans back than a late tipping mid-week game, but hopefully it can result in a 1-0 start under the new head coach.
