Penn State football: 5 reasons the Nittany Lions make it to the College Football Playoff

Weapons, Weapons, Weapons

Moving to the offensive side of the ball, you have to like what the Nittany Lions have in terms of weapons, as it is a seemingly endless group of playmakers. From standout running backs who can get it done on the outside, and in the trenches, to wide receivers you can pick your poison from, the Penn State football team can light it up at any time.

Being a well-balanced team, especially against the elite of the elite is imperative, as we have seen teams sputter on offense when the first option is taken away. Luckily for quarterback Sean Clifford, there is no shortage of first options, as Jahan Dotson, Parker Washington, and KeAndre Lambert-Smith all have the big-play ability and have combined for 73 catches for over 1,000 yards and nine touchdowns already this season.

In the backfield, Noah Cain and Keyvone Lee have shouldered the load, but it has been a rough go for the rushing attack for most of the season. Against Indiana, Lee broke out in a big way, rushing 74 yards on only eight carries as the No. 2 back behind Cain. This duo will need to be better heading down the stretch, but if they get it going on the ground, there is no end to the possibilities for this Penn State offense.
