Michigan State made quite the statement by going down to Miami and dominating the Hurricanes 38-17.

Payton Thorne threw for 261 yards and four touchdowns, while Kenneth Walker ran for 172 yards on the ground. This offense is scary right now, coming at teams both through the air and on the ground. The addition of Walker through the transfer portal has done wonders for this offense and has made them one of the more balanced attacks in the country.

The Spartans defense is doing their thing as well. While D’Eriq King did throw for 388 yards, the Spartans did pick him off twice and sacked him three times. The run defense was stout, holding Miami to just 52 rush yards for the game.

The impressive thing about this Michigan State team is that two of their three wins have come on the road, and in each case, they put up 38 points. The Spartans deservingly came in at No. 20 in this week’s AP Poll.

With a home game against Nebraska up next, this team should continue to shoot up the rankings. Michigan State looks to be back, and that’s scary for the Big Ten East.
