Northwestern was able to rebound from their brutal opening game loss at home to Michigan State with a 24-6 win over Indiana State on Saturday.

The majority of concerns with this Wildcats team will be the offense, specially the pass attack. Quarterback Hunter Johnson went 9-16 for 66 yards with a touchdown and interception, against Indiana State, not great to say the least.

After getting run all over by Michigan State a week ago, the Northwestern defense allowed just 31 rushing yards on Saturday. The competition wasn’t nearly the same, but it was a step in the right direction after one of the worst performances we’ve seen from a Pat Fitzgerald defense  in a while last week.

Northwestern’s next three games are against Duke, Ohio and Nebraska, so they have some games here to figure things out on both sides of the ball. If the next three games go well, this team will be headed in the right direction in terms of bowl eligibility.

Considering they represented the West in the conference championship last year, that’s not exactly the greatest achievement.
