Will you eat a Shrewsburger?

New Penn State Basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry hasn’t yet coached a game, but has left his mark already on Happy Valley
New Penn State Basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry has already added his touch to a Happy Valley staple.
The Field Burger and Tap, a local restaurant known for their burgers, hosted Micah Shrewsberry yesterday and today, his custom burger selection is now available on the menu.
Dubbed the ‘Shrewsburger,” this creation starts with the classic house burger patty. Shrewsberry added American cheese, bacon, lettuce and then a pretty big curveball for most burger eaters … peanut butter?!?
In a tweet, Shewsberry said this was due to his Indiana roots. There is a famous restaurant in Indiana, just minutes away from the Purdue Boilermakers campus (where Micah was an Assistant Coach prior to taking the Nittany Lions gig) called the Triple XXX. It’s known as Indiana’s oldest diner and was featured on The Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” show, hosted by Guy Fieri.
Their most famous burger is called the Duane Purvis All-American burger is a burger patty with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions and … peanut butter.
It looks like Shrewsberry upgraded the Purvis burger, swapping out the tomato, pickles, and onions for the far superior bacon.
The hype around Penn State Basketball’s new coach is well deserved, and he’s doing well on the recruiting trail … But, is peanut butter on a burger a step too far?
