Penn State Basketball coach Micah Shrewsberry made his most impactful addition yet on the recruiting trail, five-star Jameel Brown

Micah Shrewsberry picked up a huge 2022 recruit from his old stomping ground.

Jameel Brown, a 6-foot-4 combo guard from Haverford High School (Philadelphia, PA) is the number two recruit in the state of PA and projected by all accounts to be a power five starter.

Brown is a composite four star player and the 19th ranked combo guard in the nation.

What makes the commitment of Brown so interesting was where he had previously committed … Purdue University.

Brown committed to Purdue back in December, but decommitted just a few days after Penn State hired Shrewsberry.  He received an official offer from the Nittany Lions just two days later..

Also in the running was Minnesota, as they officially offered him May 1st and Browns last officially listed visit was to the Golden Gophers. It was considered a toss up between Penn State Basketball, Minnesota and Purdue going into the day, with both Auburn and Marquette also showing interest.

How four-star Jameel Brown fits Penn State Basketball

This is a vital get for the first time head coach at Penn State Basketball.

The third 2022 recruit committed to Penn State Basketball, Brown is definitely the most heralded recruit of the class so far (at least until 5 star Dereck Lively spurns Kentucky and Duke for his hometown Lions). Evan Mahaffey, a PF and consensus 3 star, committed last week, joining two star point guard Kanye Clary.
