Jameel Brown, a four star recruit from Philadelphia, has reopened his recruitment after committing to Purdue in December, and Penn State Basketball could be a desirable destination.

Initially offered by schools like Auburn, Ohio State, Marquette and La Salle, Brown committed to Purdue Boilermakers on December 7, 2020.  Rivals listed the head recruiter for Purdue as none other than Micah Shrewsberry.

The 112th ranked national recruit of the 2022 recruting class, Jameel Brown is a 6’2″, 170 lb point guard who will be playing his senior season for at The Haverford School (Haverford, PA).   He is rumored to be friends with Seth Lundy, a current Penn State player who has entered the transfer portal.

Certainly no guarantee this is good news for Penn State Basketball, but with Shrewsberry landing in State College earlier today, one can’t help but connect these dots…

Penn State Basketball currently only has seven returning players on their 2021-2022 roster, with the only significant contributers as Myles Dread and Sam Sessoms.

Currently seven players from the 2020-2021 roster are in the transfer portal.  While there hasn’t been any updates as to where these seven players may end up, that’s to be expected as many of the “better alternatives” are still playing in the NCAA Tournament.

Although Purdue had a rough first round loss to North Texas thanks for a very poor offensive performance (not a great look for their outgoing “Offensive Coordinator”), to his credit Shrewsberry posted this farewell message to West Lafayette faithful and made his way to State College this morning.  Hopefully he’s been talking to Brown (and Lundy, and MJ, and Harrar, and Brockington … )
