WATCH: Micah Shrewsberry’s First Pitch at PNC Park and a Pat Chambers Update?
By Evan Smith
New Penn State Basketball Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry threw out another first pitch, this time at PNC Park.
The Philadelphia Phillies travelled across the commonwealth to face off with the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park tonight (the Pirates won game one of the series yesterday). This game was designated the THON game in partnership with the Penn State Alumni Association and the Grater Pittsburgh Chapter. Each ticket purchased includes a $5 donation to THON.
New this year was a ‘meet and greet’ opportunity with Micah Shrewsberry, along with a pregame tailgate in the Picnic Park before the game.
This isn’t Micah’s first foray into the wide world of throwing first pitches. Two months ago, he threw out the Opening Day pitch for the local draft league team, the State College Spikes.
How did this pitch compare to his first one? The pitch at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park was a pretty nice pitch, very likely a called strike.
As you can see below, Shrewberry’s pitch was … Not great

With rumors swirling of potential Big Ten Conference additions of Kansas, West Virginia and Iowa State, Micah Shrewsberry was able to sign a 12th player to the roster yesterday, a grad transfer center from Canisius (Jalannie White).
Pat Chambers Update — we haven’t heard much from former Nittany Lions Head Coach Pat Chambers. But on Thursday, the Head Coach of Albany (Dwayne Killings) posted the below picture on his twitter account (@CoachKillingsDK):
Albany hasn’t made any official announcement about adding Pat to the coaching staff but it certainly appears Pat isn’t ‘toxic’ since Coach Killings publically shared this picture. Hopefully this is a sign of good things to come for #theclimb.
