Another Penn State football battle with Notre Dame

Penn State and Notre Dame have become very familiar with each other during the 2022 recruiting cycle.

The two traditional powerhouses have gone head to head for numerous high-profile recruits this year and Singleton is the latest.

Victories for the Nittany Lions include Singleton, Allar, and Saunders. Shelton also had a Notre Dame offer and showed some interest. Notre Dame’s victories are mostly on the defensive side of the ball, with the Irish grabbing 3-star cornerback Jayden Bellamy and 4-star defensive end Aiden Gobaira.

Penn State had an interest in Notre Dame offensive line commit Ty Chan and former Penn State commit, tight end Holden Staes, is now committed to Notre Dame. Staes’ Notre Dame offer did come after his de-commitment from Penn State though.

Mike Yurcich and his offensive staff seem to have a handle on things when it comes to recruiting against Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees and his crew. Notre Dame’s new defensive coordinator Marcus Freeman looks like he will be a thorn in the side of Penn State’s recruiting efforts, on the other hand.

The fierce recruiting fights have sparked a rivalry between the two fanbases and some are calling for a new series between the two programs. That is something that a lot of people would be interested in.
