No. 1: Week 2 – Ball State

The biggest positive for this spot is it is the home opener for Penn State Football, one that should take place in front of fans, maybe even a full Beaver Stadium.

Ball State is a good team, reigning MAC champs who are set to return 20 of 22 starters including quarterback Drew Pitt. The Cardinals went 7-1 last season and finished ranked 23rd in the AP and coaches poll at the end of the season.

Not only will Ball State be a solid opponent who is looking for a signature win, the game couldn’t come at a worse time for the Nittany Lions. This week 2 clash falls in between a week 1 trip to Wisconsin and a week 3 home game with Auburn that could potentially be a “white out” game.

A week 1 loss or win is going to set the tone for next season, and holds more weight after the disappointing 4-5 season. Whether or not they come away with a win in Madison, that outcome will effect the teams attitude in this one.

The Cardinals are also too good of a team for Penn State Football to overlook and start game planning for or thinking of Auburn. Looking ahead is how you get beat by inferior teams. This should be a win, but it might be closer then many expect.
