2. Franklin has praise for a freshman we rarely, if ever, hear

Penn State Football’s 2021 recruiting class, which ranked 22nd in the country according to 247sports was deemed a disappointment, however their is one freshman sticking out to Franklin and the staff.

Early enrolled Kalen King out of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, Michigan has flashed this spring, prompting praise from the head coach rarely heard before.

"“[Kalen King] is probably the most advanced freshman that we’ve had since we’ve been here,” Franklin told the media."

King is a five-foot-eleven and 170 pound cornerback who 247sports had rated as a four-star prospect coming out of Michigan, ranked as the 234th player in the country in the ’21 cycle.

That is not the type of hyperbole you hear often from Franklin, but if King is everything he is bieng billed to be, the Penn State Football secondary is going to be scary for opponents next season.

This already figured to be one of the best secondary’s in Franklin’s tenure in Happy Valley after senior Tariq Castro-Fields decided to come back for a final season as well as adding cornerback Johnny Dixon from South Carolina in the transfer portal.
