12. Mel Tucker – Michigan State Spartans

After former head coach Mark Dantoni surprisingly stepped away from coaching, the hire of Tucker drew some ire due to the massive contract he required to make the move from Colorado to East Lansing.

Despite finishing 2-5 last season, Tucker somewhat overachieved in his first season at the helm for Michigan State. Their two victories came on the road against in-state rival Michigan as a three touchdown underdog and home to Northwestern who was undefeated and ranked 8th in the country at the time.

They are in for a long rebuild, especially in that division, but Tucker brings a swagger to Sparty that they need as they look to retool the roster. He is only entering yeah three as a head coach so time will tell on Tucker.
