2. James Franklin – Penn State Nittany Lions

James Franklin is undoubtedly a top 10 coach in the country, and if it were not for Ryan Day and his perfect regular season record through two seasons at Ohio State, he would be tops on this list.

Penn State Football was the poster child for a wonky 2020 season between opt outs, injuries and new offensive schemes, it was a perfect storm for a weird season.

The Nittany Lions will be out to prove that last season was an outlier, and Franklin’s resume in Happy Valley leads you to think it absolutely was. Leading into 2020, Penn State Football had made a New Year’s Six Bowl three out of four seasons wans was 2-1 in those games. In 2018, they went to the Citrus Bowl only due to the fact they could not go to the Fiesta Bowl in consecutive seasons.

Franklin has been aggressive and bold this offseason in transforming not only the roster but improving his coaching staff. Penn State Football should bounce back next fall.
