How Jahan Dotson and Co. Decided to Return to Penn State Football
By Evan Smith
Jahan Dotson, Jaquan Brisker and Tariq Castro-Fields decided not to forget that 0-5 start when deciding to return to Penn State Football for the 2021.
According to BWI, one FaceTime phone call between Dotson, Brisker and Castro-Fields was all they needed to decide to make amends for the poor start of the 2020 season.
“It’s going to be better than what we did last year,” Brisker said, via BWI. “We’re coming back for a reason.”
Jahan Dotson will return for his fourth season despite earning several first and second ground grades by NFL mock draft boards. Brisker and Castro-Fields are taking advantage of the NCAA”s fifth season of eligiblity (due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic).
Dotson was one of of the best Wide Receivers in the conference last year, a lone bright spot for an otherwise struggling offense. In just 9 games, he threatened 1,000 yards receiving (finishing with 884 on 52 catches) and finished with 8 touchdowns replacing fellow speedster K.J. Hamler. Castro-Fields struggled to find the field due to an on-going injury. Brisker finished with 57 tackles (33 solo), one interception and four passes defended.
This returning core is a huge reason why ESPN thinks Penn State could be “the next Clemson“.
"“Every little detail, we were talking about,” Dotson added, via BWI. “We came to the decision that iwas best ofr us, best for the team, best for our families…best for everything.”"
Dotson summed up their collective decsion from that all important phone call with this perfectly, saying; “We know that Penn State football is used to winning, and that’s what we’ve got do.”
